Having been a yoga student for many years, I discovered in tai chi shibashi a gentler, more forgiving form of movement. I have been practising tai chi now for six years and qualified as a teacher under “Tai Chi for Health”.

My background in art seemed to me to fit well with the imagery and names of the movements. As well as the many health benefits, this form of exercise offers me a surprising mixture of poetry and colour.

I have never been very good at sitting still, so I have found meditation difficult. However, tai chi is often described as moving meditation and it gives me the opportunity to mix simple physical exercise with a time of calm and stillness.

The process continues to be a journey of discovery and delight. There is lots more to learn and sharing together in a group only adds to the joy.
